PITCH NIRAM

Pitch Niram Magazine

We’re open to reported features, sharp essays, profiles, and cultural criticism across lifestyle, current events, and the creative world. Bring a point of view, a reason it matters now, and a sense of voice—whether you’re a seasoned freelancer or pitching for the first time.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

01

A strong premise + why now

Lead with the core idea in 1–2 sentences, then tell us what you’ll prove or discover. The best pitches explain why the story matters right now, who it’s for, and what makes your angle distinct from what’s already been published.

02

Reporting, access, or lived insight

We love pitches grounded in interviews, documents, data, scenes, and specific places—or in firsthand experience that adds real texture. Share who you can talk to, what you can access, and what you’ve already learned (or what you’ll verify).

03

Right-sized for long-form reading

Aim for roughly 1,200–2,500 words unless there’s a clear reason to go longer. If you can, include a loose outline, the format (feature, Q&A, essay), and any photo/illustration ideas that could strengthen the package.

GOOD TO KNOW

We read every pitch. If it’s a fit, you’ll usually hear back within 7–10 business days; if you’re on a deadline, note it up top and we’ll do our best to respond sooner.

We pay on publication. Rates vary by assignment, scope, and reporting needs; if your pitch is accepted, we’ll confirm a fee in writing before drafting begins.

Pitching FAQ

We read every pitch that comes in. In most cases you’ll hear back within 1–2 weeks, depending on our publishing calendar and the volume of submissions. If your idea is tied to a specific date or news peg, include the deadline up top so we can route it appropriately.

We prefer pitches first. A short, well-scoped proposal helps us confirm fit, timing, and edits before you invest the time in a full draft. If you already have a completed piece, summarize it in the pitch and link to a sample or excerpt rather than pasting the entire article.

Yes—just be transparent. If your pitch is on simultaneous submission, tell us in the first line and let us know if another outlet accepts it. If we’re interested, we’ll reply with next steps quickly so you’re not left waiting.
